Challenge Yourself

A good way to practice writing and keep up your motivation is to commit to a goal. One way to accomplish this is to participate in a writing challenge!

Some publishers and websites have annual or monthly challenges that could even lead to awards or published copies of your work. These usually have qualifications that help guide you as you write. Some have genre rules, word or length limits, or a specific timeframe in which they must be done.

Trying a writing challenge can help keep you on task and writing more often. It’s a great way to inspire creativity if you’re having a hard time staying on track or if you have writer’s block.

Remember though, challenges are meant to be fun. If it’s only stressing you out more and you find it’s not helping you achieve your goals, it might not be for you.
